How do I get my husband, an old country boy, to stop chewing tobacco? I've done everything short of divorce.?

Both my parents died from tobacco related cancers, and he has seen it up front and personal, but that still does not deter him. What can I do now?How do I get my husband, an old country boy, to stop chewing tobacco? I've done everything short of divorce.?

Why people marry someone knowing their faults, for better for worse they say in marriage ceremony, and you always trying to change your partner after marriage?


If he wants to change, that's great...if he doesn't, leave him alone, learn acceptance, tolerance and pray for him.How do I get my husband, an old country boy, to stop chewing tobacco? I've done everything short of divorce.?
You can't do anything.... its an addiction just like smoking, alcohol, drugs, etc. If you've explained your parents history, and he does it anyway, then its clear he's not interested in changing his nasty habits, despite how it upsets you.


If he did this before you married, which seems likely since he's a ';country boy'; then you certainly can't expect him to stop.


If it upsets you that much, you could separate and tell him why you're separating... maybe consider counceling. However unless he admits its an addiction, and wants to get help, there is nothing you can do. Leaving may wake him up to how much it means to you, how much it hurts....

Pee in his dip. If the flavor doesn't help, then at least you'll get the last laugh! If he catches on, then use tuna fish oil in it. Or a liquid laxative. Or even arsenic, I guess. At least when the tobacco kills him it won't just be the tobacco!





I'm just kidding. Do no harm but know this - he won't stop until HE is ready to stop so either he needs to figure it out and do it or he'll never stop and you can't make him. Good luck on your quest!
