My husband recently graduated. He has a degree in Accounting but no experience whatsoever. He's been sending out resumes and cover letters for what seems like forever. He isn't a very take charge kind of guy but he's the kind of person who would be a real asset to any firm that would take him on. Any suggestions? Advice? How can I help my husband find success in obtaining an entry-level job in Accounting in Roanoke, VA?
Has he been getting interviews? If he has, and is still having no success, try practicing interviews with him...do a dry run before his next one, make sure that eye contact is good, and ensure that he answers questions confidently see what his weak points are in the interview process, and work on them. Is his resume professional, concise, and attractive, consider fine-tuning it as well.Accounting is probably a difficult position to gain w/out experience, b/c it deals with handling other people's money, for which most employers would want references to ensure honesty. However, make sure that he confirms integrity as one of his core values during the interview. Try monster.com, and your local dept of labor to help find new positions...good luck!
