I love the name Anna Katherine (Kate for short) however, Katherine, is my husband ex-girlfriends name. How can I convince my husband that it doesn't matter? Should I?How can I convince my husband to name our daughter after his ex-girlfriend?
It shouldn't matter. Your daughter is a person so far removed from his past that he should see the potential for his little Anna. She should be an entity beyond any Anna or Katherine he has ever known. Sure it would be great if you two could compromise on names that don't have any negative associations for either of you. That would solve the problem easy. But neither of you should care about who's name it was before her, Katherine the Great of Russia was supposedly smothered to death by the horse she was gettin busy with! And I'm sure you know who Anna Nicole was! The point is that you should both love a name for the name and your daughter, not who it used to be.How can I convince my husband to name our daughter after his ex-girlfriend?
I think it's a bad idea. Please don't name your daughter after his ex. You'll regret it. Because every time he calls her Kate or Katherine, you will start thinking, ';does he miss his ex?';
There are so many other names. I'm sure you can come up with something.
Thaaaat's a tough one. It's really up to you and your hub. It's difficult to ';talk him out of'; being upset about that name. Only time will help him to not think of her when he hears that name.
I would go for another name that you both like. I wouldn't like it if I knew that one of my parents had to be convinced of my name.
Dont do that.
how about Anna-Kathlin. or something close. But not Katherine. or just change the name. Because it's painful for him to hear that name.
I do not balam your hasband to not name your doughter after his ex-girlfriend because it ment remind him of his ex-girlfrieng i would say that what your hasband been saying all along.
just tell him u like the name and it has nothing to do with his ex
