I imagine doctors are much like lawyers in that when they first start out, they work a TON of hours (for experience and to show that they're serious about their career). Once you've been practicing for a while, you can sort of set your own pace and do as you please (especially if you own your own practice) but at first (especially during your residency and early working years) it's going to be rough. Can I be a doctor and still have time for my husband and kids?
Many doctors still in training work hugely long hours to gain experience. I know this first hand. It's not so much what hours you do after you've finished training, but all those years before that, that take a toll on you. It's probably possible, but you'd need to have a good support network to fall back on, who can look after your kids when you cannot be available.
Yeah I work with a Dr every day. She's awesome. She works 4 days a week, she had a 10yr old son a 6 yr old daughter. Her son does boy scouts and she goes to the meets and soccer and she dont miss a game. Her daughter does girl scouts and soccer. As well as she volunteers at their school cafeteria on Wed serving lunch. And she likes to knit in her spear time. Her and her husband also swim after work at the YMCA when their isn't practices and games. She also likes Gardening. She is 41 yrs old. You can do anything that you set your mind to. You may have a lot of work to do but it'll all be worth it.
A lot of doctors have kids. You'll be okay.
Its normal to feel this way.. i personaly would do what i have to.. pray on it %26amp; god will help u get through this..
